WESTERN CANADA FASHION WEEK - EDMONTON 2010

ALBERTA FASHION WEEK - REVIEW

From March 21,2010 till March 27, 2010 we had a chance to experience and see new trends & styles during the Alberta Fashion Week, in Calgary. All of the fashion events were located at BR& off Stephen Avenue - the glamorous space with beautiful ceilings and chandeliers was perfect for the big week event.
The fashion week was opened by three collections of Lael Osness, 442 McAdam and Andrew Majtenyi. Lael Osness line was inspired by the forties offering elegant and classy suits, mostly matched with hats - from Zsa Zsa's Hat Salon in Calgary. Following that were the bags of 442 McAdam presented by great models and by performance of Reezy Dangerous from House of Dangerkat. This show was closed by Andrew Majtenyl collection, which started off with both colorful summer dresses and ended with domination of black color in suits, skirts and sheer, nylon blouses.
After day off, we had chance to see another fashion show on Tuesday presenting the work of great designers, such as JenSa, who's designs were very colorful and fun - inspired by Alice in Wonderland. After that we heard great music from 30's and 40's and saw beautiful designs of two designers - Sarah & Liz from Untainted. The military jackets and large bright poppies looked beautiful together. Another designer - Debbie Wilton showed her collection with the belly dancer on the runaway. How exotic it was! After the break we saw two more designers - Ruby Ellen- with her wedding dresses and Emogene - with feminine ruffles and black&white pieces.
Wednesday was the retailer night. Henry Singer was up first, showing off what's new for men this season followed by the Calgary's boutique - Ooh La La- for the feminine side of clothes; with lots of summer dresses, tops and light jackets in beautiful pastel colors. This evening was closed by surprising show of jewelry presented by both models as well as dancers. On Thursday - four designers took the fashion stage: Anji - K, Defy Gravity Designs and NRT Fashions, followed by elegant and stunning collection of Madame Wolf.
The day before the final fashion night, we experienced great show with the collections of the following designers: Caitlin Power, House of Nonie, Shelley Kanyo&Andy Court, Kyle Nylund and Jessica Halabi. Some of the evening gowns accompanied with beautiful hats just took the crowd breath away!!
It was just crazy busy on Saturday night when lots of fashionistas came to see the closing show of Alberta Fashion Week, featured collections of Jason Matio, Holly Allen for Chi Chi Couture and KaaDiki.
